We are often asked if we could make a smaller lamp head, the Scurion® lamp heads look quite big with the fins around the case.

Of course we could do this. It would even be less expensive to make. But you wouldn't like the result: Even with today's best LEDs, most of the power is dissipated as heat. LEDs, in contrast to halogen lamps, are very sensitive to heat. Even if they don't break, efficiency and life time drops with rising temperature. So although we build powerful lamps, we want to keep them cool. Cooling is extremely simple: The larger the surface, the better. For that reason, to keep our lamps cool, efficient and reliable, we try to make them dissipate heat as good as possible, which means we need the large surface area of the lamp head.
